I was pleased to support this letter from UNISON asking the Chancellor to properly fund Local Government. Our councils provide so many essential services and they’re at breaking point. And we all know when public services are cut it is the most vulnerable in our society who rely on them the most that suffer the worst hardship. If the government doesn’t change course on local government funding there will be a host of councils across the country that won’t be financially viable and collapse.
