I love to read and firmly believe that we should be doing all that we can to encourage more people, especially our children to do so.

I was surprised to discover that whilst printed publications have always rightly been zero-rated, their digital equivalents are subject to 20% VAT.

I think there should be a level playing field and there shouldn’t be any barrier to reading however you chose to do so. That’s why I’ve signed early day motion 2540 to ‘axe the reading tax’ and urge the government to act to readdress the balance.
