Gareth Snell Labour and Co-operative Candidate for Stoke-on-Trent Central
I spend a lot of my time in my constituency speaking to Head Teachers, listening to the difficulties they face because of funding cuts. Head Teachers talking about facing deficits of up to half a million pounds – deficits that will make it impossible for them to protect staff members.
But some of our city representatives, who sit in the same meetings as me, aren’t listening. That same MP is a PPS to the Secretary of State for Education, an influential position. But if he doesn’t even listen to what our schools are saying then what hope do we have? We need people to stand up for Stoke-on-Trent not ignoring the facts and towing the party line. Schools, parents and our children deserve better and I won’t stop speaking up for our local children and their futures.
