Community Hospitals – why we must fight to keep them open
Last night, as many other MPs went home after the Brexit votes. I stayed to take part in an adjournment debate about the future of our community hospitals.
You can watch my contribution below, but I wanted to make it clear my frustration with the actions of CCGs that are ignoring the wishes of local people. We all know in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire that our local CCG is actively taking the decision to reduce the number of community facilities. This is at a time when we need those beds to free up space in our hospitals and ensure some of the most vulnerable members of our communities are getting the care they need.
We must keep fighting to hold the CCG to account to ensure that our voices are finally heard and our community hospitals like Bradwell are kept open and able to help meet the very real need for community beds and care in our region.
